Re: Kitchen engineer

Yep, I agree with Nick, we used them to replace our worktops with granite and are very happy with the result.

We paid about 600€ for our phase 2 worktops to be changed.

Re: TV

Hi As Duncan says you only get Spanish TV through your aerial, however depending on your TV if the programmes are UK/American made you can often switch the language. Our TV has the function buried in the tools settings. I was only made aware of this trick recently. It is mainly films and the odd ser...

Re: Timing of Purchase Completion

Hi, Our solicitors helped us open our bank account, having lined up what we needed we just had to go into the branch and sign. I'm not sure if they can open an account using power of attorney. Just for info we use Banco Sabedell who have a really good english website and app, making it easier manage...

New Chinese Supermarket

Hi, Whilst wandering around in Roldan today we came across a new Chinese supermarket, Hiper Casa, that looks like its only just openend. It's on Ave Torre Pacheco, just past the Sabedell bank. It is a lot bigger and better organised than the one just behind the Dia supermarket. For anyone new, these...

Corvera

Looking on Murcia Today , it seems that the opening of Corvera could be closer than many thought. I have mixed feelings about that as the larger airport could attract more operators, hence more choice. In many ways we like San Javier and would miss it if it closed, its simple and quick to get throug...

Re: IBERDROLA - comparison of electricity plans

Hi Duncan,

Just got our latest bill and it is a lot cheaper. Previously we paid about 22€ per month when the apartment was empty, our latest bill was 13€ and that even included a bit of power usage! Certainly seems worth the effort of swapping capacity and tarrif.

Re: IBERDROLA - comparison of electricity plans

Hi Duncan, We were charged 10.64€ for the capacity change, still no sign of a refund. Finally got the Choose 8 plan sorted. I found if you don't have a spanish mobile number then you can't use the online form as it validates on that field and won't let you progress past it. So sorted it via email. I...

Re: IBERDROLA - comparison of electricity plans

Hi Duncan, Thanks again for the extra info, I now know what would suit us best. I started the procedure to reduce our contracted capacity to 4.6kw, but it popped up a warning about costs for the change, including an access charge. Looking on the Iberdolasite seems to infere that a reduction is free ...

Re: IBERDROLA - comparison of electricity plans

Thanks for chasing, I hadn't realised that Iberdola were geared up to answer questions in english. I'm hoping that the reset is automatic or under our control. I think we are going for the 8 hour option, with 4 in the morning (7-11) and 4 late afternoon (4-8) as these suit our lifestyle when out in ...

Re: IBERDROLA - comparison of electricity plans

Duncan (and Phil), thanks for the comprehensive info. I will try and work out what is the best fit for us. I would still like to know what happens if you exceed your contracted limit. I don't want the wifes hair dryer to trip it and then have to wait for a reset. I'm hoping that the smart meters tak...

Re: IBERDROLA - comparison of electricity plans

I am fairly sure we are paying too much for our electricity from Iberdola. We are on the tourist tarrif, with 5.75 kw capacity. Looking at what Phil says I think we could drop down to the lowest level capacity. However, I dont know what happens if/when you exceed your contracted limit, what "trips" ...

Road Bike Rental

My son wants to come out later in the year to do some serious cycling with a friend. Does anyone know of any bike rental shops that deliver to TDLT? He's after proper road bikes not the ordinary commuter runabouts.

Thanks

Re: Winter heating

We used our aircon for heating during our visits last winter. Although it did heat the place, because it is moving air it did not always seem enough. I looked around at the options and finally went for a catalytic gas heater. These have the benefit of being moveable, give near instantaneous heat and...
